Music Libraries at Smith

Student vocal practice in Pierce Hall, c1904.

Pierce Hall was the first music building and the first location of the music library. Some of the scores seen in this photograph may reside in Josten Library today.

Three students studying in Sage Hall Library, ca. 1930s.

In 1925, the music library moved to Sage Hall, the newly-built music complex. Smith’s first music librarian, Louise Lyman, was hired at that time.
