Transcription: Footnote to page 34 -- "When I say "Miss Smith was pleased with what has been done" I mean she was pleased that something had been done. What had been done was better than nothing. I wanted a Women's College and she wanted it, but I could find no prominent educator in New England who [?] it. Presidents of colleges to whom I wrote warned me against the danger as well as the absurdity of my idea that young women should have a college in which they [?] [?] advantages for [?] [?] to what young men have."
